I’ve had conversations with a number of AmbITion organisations in recent weeks around the subject of online accessibility for disabled people. I promised to share a link that a colleague passed on to me and so here it is:
The link takes you to a page on the W3C Web Accessiblity Initiative’s website and offers a range of resources to evaluate websites for accessiblity. I’m reliably informed by another colleague that the new Equalities legislation defines WICAG 2.0 as the standard to aim for. There’s also a beginners guide on ‘How to … be accessible’ on the AmbITion resources micro-site http://resources.getambition.com/
I hope this is of some use to those of you who are considering accessibility issues in relation to web development. If anyone has practical advice or feedback they can offer here, I’m sure it would be welcome!
All best
