Highlands Rewilding (HRL) has a bundle of business models common to rural land management for nature restoration, such as regenerative tourism, and regenerative agriculture. Hannah has been helping out on the Executive Team, working with HRL’s experts to create viable new business models which value nature and which will help this nature recovery company scale.
OSPREY
Operating System Partnerships for Rewilding (OSPREY) is a service to help land managers monetise natural capital projects and ecosystem services.
HRL supports land owners facing increasingly complex and competing demands on limited land uses to pivot towards profitable nature positive business models, while creating benefits for local communities.
With OSPREY, HRL and land managers co-design a roadmap to nature recovery and profitability. Together, land management plans, and business models for carbon and biodiversity credit schemes are created.

HRL’s science team has developed comprehensive methods for measuring, monitoring, analysing and reporting on nature recovery and community prosperity for natural capital projects. They have experience of numerous methods for baselining and monitoring, in house and with third parties, including multiple comparisons on single land holdings. The team measures HRL’s carbon and biodiversity in detail, in multiple habitats, using multiple techniques and have reported on progress in detail in HRL’s natural capital reports.
HRL offers that unique experience and expertise to landowners, making recommendations for land management changes based on our large and growing data collection and optimisation capabilities, continually improving the efficiency and accuracy of carbon sequestration and biodiversity uplift measurement. The team partners to design appropriate land management plans, identify important community and environmental impacts, select relevant grants and credit schemes, and present business cases. Service users will benefit from HRL’s long-term research collaborations, connections to natural capital credit schemes, and deep experience in involving local communities in nature restoration.
